Raclette du Valais AOP is undoubtedly the best known product of the Grand Entremont area. But its diversified agriculture allows the production of many products with a strong character – be it other cheeses from milk production or products from beekeeping, livestock or the cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants.
The “Grand Entremont” joint brand was created to enhance the value of mountain farming in the Grand Entremont region and to promote its products in a coordinated manner by means of a label: “Grand Entremont – Le goût des Cimes”.
If you climb to the top of the mountain, don’t forget to taste all the flavours!
Cheeses
The quality of the milk from the cows of the Grand Entremont region makes it possible to produce excellent dairy products. Raclette du Valais AOP is the best known, but it is far from being the only one to delight the taste buds of cheese lovers!
Many tommes are made in the region. Each dairy has its own emblematic tomme, either runny or firm, with lactic or floral aromas. Serac, a fresh white cheese made from whey, is also produced in many dairies or on the mountain pastures.
If the production of cow’s milk cheese is particularly important, it should be noted that several herds of goats graze the mountain pastures in summer and that their milk is also transformed into various cheese specialities at La Chaux and Col du Lein.
Of course, milk from the Valais Alps is also excellent fresh, or in the form of other dairy products such as butter, cream or homemade ice cream.

The Catogne is the summit that overlooks the Grand Entremont. It is also the one that proudly bears the Le Goût des Cimes label. The most precious natural resource runs from within: the water of Sembrancher.
The mineralized water of Grand Entremont – natural or slightly sparkling – has been bottled since 2008. Since 2021, it has also been the source of Grand Entremont lemonades and herbal waters.
The Grand Entremont brand also includes several wines, which are made from Gamay grown in Bovernier, as well as Garanoir and Gamaret grown in Vollèges. Various syrups and digestives also have le goût des cimes; they are obtained thanks to the alpine plants or fruits of the Grand Entremont.
