The SEL DES ALPES is certainly the most emblematic regional product, rich with a thousand-year-old history but other specialities draw their flavours from the terroir of the Chablais soil and make up an admirable culinary showcase for the region.
Fruits, cheeses, cured meats, wine and beer are produced in the area by passionate craftsmen. Set off on a journey to discover them in the plains or in the mountains, and taste them without moderation.
Wines
One AOC appellation, about fifty winegrowers and many quality wines: this is a summary of the Chablais wine region.
Chasselas, Pinot noir, Gamay. Garanoir, Gamaret, Merlot. During a visit to the region, don’t miss the opportunity to taste these numerous specialties directly at the wineries. They will be happy to tell you more about their work and their history.

Château d’Aigle and Vine, Wine & Wine label Museum
The Château d’Aigle, which stands proudly in the heart of the Chablais vineyards, is home to the Vine, Wine & Wine label Museum. Its permanent exhibition and its temporary exhibitions allow to approach various topics surrounding wine.
This is a must-see for all wine and history lovers!
Fruits and vegetables
In the heart of the Chablais Vaudois, Bertrand and Martine Cheseaux produce about fifty fruits in their orchards located in Aigle and Yvorne. Cultivated with respect for the environment, proudly bearing the Vaud+ Certified from here, Suisse Garantie and Pro Specie Rara labels for old varieties, these fruits reveal the delicious flavours and aromas of the Chablais region.
In their orchards, they grow apples, pears, plums and cherries.
Farmer’s market
At the farm store, 25 varieties of apples, 7 varieties of pears and 3 varieties of plums are offered. Not to mention the delicious apple juice! Other products from local producers are also available for sale, so you can take back with you all the flavours of the region.
Pick your own!
The fruit is even tastier when hand-picked. In these orchards, come and pick your own. From June to the beginning of July, 15 varieties of cherries can be harvested. In September, Fellenberg plums and 6 varieties of apples are available.

Cheeses
The herds of cows that go up to the mountain pastures before the summer allow the production of magnificent cheeses from mountain pastures.
During a stay in the region, don’t miss the opportunity to hike in the Vaud Alps and meet the cheese makers and their specialties.
Eat to your heart’s content in the alpine farms!
In the Chablais Vaudois, several alpine farms are located near the hiking trails. This is an opportunity to take a well-deserved break… and to taste cheese specialties with a strong character.
Cheese making demonstration
At La Fromagerie, a restaurant located in an old chalet in Leysin, the master cheesemaker offers a cheese-making demonstration several times a week. He curdles the milk in a huge cast iron cauldron over a wood fire in the centre of the restaurant.

Charcuterie
In the Vaud Alps, there are numerous cured meat specialties: beef, mountain pork, fresh, smoked, dried. They are essential to assembling an iconic charcuterie board to share with your friends and family.
Butchers of the Vaud Alps
Three butcher’s shops offer a wide variety of cured meats: the Boucherie du Muveran in Les Diablerets, the Boucherie Erard in Chesières and the Boucherie-Charcuterie Nicollier in Ollon. During a trip to the region, don’t hesitate to stop by and take home some of these delicious charcuterie specialties!
Titi, Mister Boutefas 2018… and 2021
Since 2015, the Boutefas Night celebrates this typical charcuterie of the French-speaking part of Switzerland. On this occasion, a tasting panel evaluates the various Boutefas competing according to criteria of appearance, texture and taste … before awarding the title of Miss or Mister Boutefas to the winner!
In 2018 and 2021, it was Pascal Ruchet, alias “Titi”, who has been awarded this prestigious prize. Working at the Boucherie du Centre in Leysin, a visit is a must for any self-respecting gourmet.
Craft beers
In the last few years, craft breweries have multiplied all over Switzerland, and this includes the Vaud Alps!
Brown, blonde, white, or red: there are beers of all colours, for all tastes. Come and taste good beers brewed with passion while enjoying mesmerizing views.
7 breweries, 2 cities, 2 villages
In total, 7 craft breweries are located in the Chablais Vaudois.
Aigle has two breweries: the Brasserie A Tue-Tête and the Brasserie Galio. They offer a wide range of craft beers, available in local shops both to enjoy on the spot or to take away.
In Bex, the Brasserie La Mine is developing an original range of beers created with spring water drawn from the hills above the village as well as hops and organic barley from the surrounding area. For the more curious, there is even one made with SEL DES ALPES!
In Leysin, two breweries entice the tastebuds of thirsty visitors: the Brasserie Wild Goats and the Brasserie des Vagabonds. Enjoy on the spot in the bars and restaurants of the region, or take some home to show your friends!
The village of Les Diablerets is also home to two breweries: the Brasserie La Diablesse, created by two local women, and La Brasserie des Diablerets, which offers organic beers.
